Modern Architecture ~ POP-UP Book

1 08 2008

The most innovative modern and contemporary architecture from around the world showcased in three-dimensional replication!

We’ve pre-ordered ours here at Amazon.

Lot’s of photos here.

Accompanied by illustrations, photographs, and elaborate pop-ups, the talent and imagination of architects and builders of the modern era is brought to life in a POP-UP book. Ranging from the nineteenth century to the present day, the pages follow the development of modern architecture: the creation of new buildings and innovations that led to such feats as the Brooklyn Bridge; the birth of the skyscraper and the modern city; mid-century modernism, and the cutting-edge architecture of today.

Modern Architecture Pop-Up features the following structures: London’s Crystal Palace; the Brooklyn Bridge; the Eiffel Tower; New York’s Flatiron Building; Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, Chicago; Reitveld’s Schroeder House; Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye; Saarinen’s TWA terminal; Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Bilbao; Calatrava’s Milwaukee Art Museum; and Foster’s London “Gherkin” building, to name only a few.

Innovative, informative, and elegant, Modern Architecture Pop-Up is an elegant visual tour of the world’s dynamic, inventive, and original architecture.

World’s Coolest Houses Book ~ Submit Now!

17 07 2008

Their first book, the World’s Coolest Hotel Rooms, is available from Amazon. Published by Harper Collins Publishers (US – June 2) and designed by the Sydney based War Design, the inaugural Cool Hunter book will soon be followed by the next volume, the World’s Coolest Houses.

To make that happen, they are on a furious hunt for supremely cool projects from beach homes, country homes and city pads to holiday houses and ski retreat. They are looking for the most unique houses from Sao Paulo to Sydney. Slightly cool, standard-issue luxury won’t do it. The houses they want must think like Zaha Hadid who said “I like architecture to have some raw, vital, earthy quality.”

So, if you are an architect of such a house, please submit your project for consideration or if you are a photographer who has photographed such a house, please get in contact bill@thecoolhunter.net.
